The A.A.S. in Health Care Administration: Long Term Care is an 18-month degree-granting program that is designed to provide students with both classroom and in-the-field knowledge, and applied experience. Students will be provided with communication, interpersonal and career-building skills that are essential to success in the long term care workforce. Students should master a broad range of knowledge that will enable them to handle social, health, and programmatic positions in hospitals, physician offices, clinics, insurance companies, geriatric and assisted living facilities. Topics covered include medical terminology, health care systems, geriatric psychology, multiculturalism in elder care environments, medical ethics and death and dying. In addition to these specialty courses, students will be taking courses in English composition, oral communication, psychology, and professional and career development.
