Medical Administrative Assistant
As a Medical Administrative Assistant, you will learn word processing, medical office software, medical insurance processing and computerized bookkeeping. Medical Administrative Assistants need a thorough knowledge of medical terminology, medical ethics, ICD-9 and CPT insurance coding. Knowledge of patient record keeping and billing is important to your job. You will know how to handle emergencies and help patients, as well as format and type medical correspondence and reports, case histories and transcribe medical dictation.
A graduate of this program is able to work as a medical administrative assistant in an entry-level position in a medical office, clinic, hospital or insurance company.
