Medical Assistant Diploma Program
In just eight months, Medical Assistant students learn the skills they need for a medical career, giving them an opportunity to work in general or specialty practices, outpatient clinics, hospitals or medical laboratories. Students receive hands-on training in medical laboratory tests and procedures including blood withdrawals, injections, assistance during minor surgeries, examinations, vital signs, and sterilization of instruments as well as general preparation of patients, exam rooms, and supplies. Medical Assistant students are also trained in administrative office procedures, computers, medical terminology, medical law and ethics, human anatomy, patient psychology and pharmacology.
Graduates of the Medical Assistant program receive a diploma, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate, Electrocardiogram (EKG) Certificate and an Injection Certificate. Medical Assistant graduates qualify to sit for the RMA or CMA examinations sponsored by the American Medical Technologists or the AAMA.
